Drama-On Video

This movie was very long and got worse as the movie went on. Sharon Stone
was horrible in this movie, all she did was cry. It seemed like an hour
of this movie was Sharon Stone crying. This movie started off very good
with the building of the Casino and the prosperity of it. Once things fell
apart it got very depressing. One bad thing after another just kept
happening.

The Fifth Element

Bruce Willis plays a futuristic role and a futuristic time. The plot is
about a search for stones that will save the world. The girl is the perfect
being and she is the fifth element. The woman who sings the opera in this
movie has a voice that is amazing. This movie almost reminds me of a Star
Wars type movie. Bruce Willis is still a smoking addict even in the future. Overall Rating: 7.0

12 Monkeys

I thought this was a very good movie but it can be very hard to understand. I can see why many people just say that it is really weird but nobody really says that it is bad. I think that is because they think they sort of understand ir but they don't want to look stupid. I think it is a very good movie and it almost reminds me of the novel 1984. This is the sort of movie that is better to watch twice so you don't miss some things that have happened that you forget about. Overall Rating: 7.2

Edward Scissorhands

This is a tear jerker movie about a man who lives on a hill in a castle
and he has scissors for hands. It sounds strange but it is a great movie
about people in a very sociable and noisy town that singles this guy out
as different. This scares Edward because he is not used to being around
people. This movie is sad because Edward wants to be just like everyone
else but everyone is scared of him. Overall Rating: 8.4

Rudy

This is the true story of a boy that has a dream to play college football
for Notre Dame. He is slow and small and not very good but he has a dream.
It is amazing to watch Rudy's passion for football and his determination
could inspire anyone. This is sort of a little engine that could story.
What impressed me the most was that Rudy never became a star but just
got to play one play. That is all he needed to fulfill his dream. That
is something we all wish we could do. Overall Rating: 8.8

Driving Miss Daisy

I thought that this movie was okay. Miss Daisy finally comes around to
breaking the racial barriers and accepting Morgan Freeman as a driver.
She not only accepts him as a driver but as a friend. This movie was short
and did not have enough emotion. Miss Daisy should have taught Morgan
Freeman how to read and he should of had her break racial lines. These
are some improvements I could have imagined. Overall Rating: 8.2

Sleepers

This movie about a couple of private school boys once they have grown up
is very disturbing. To see what these kids had to go through makes you
want to cringe. They finally get their revenge on Kevin Bacon for what
he did to them when they were younger. It is something that completely
changes their lives. All this because of an accident when they tried to
steal a hot dog truck. This story is riveting and full of rage for the
past. Overall Rating: 7.9

The Ninth Gate

This may be one of the worst movies that I have ever
seen. They never really explain to you what the ninth
gate is and when the guy finds the Ninth Gate he walks
into this castle where there is a light. But what is
the light? What is the ninth gate? What is the whole
deal behind the guy just having random sex outside the
castle and it somehow seems to be a climax point of
the movie? I just dont understand. Overall Rating: 3.4

The Thirteenth Floor

I thought that this was pretty interesting. The movie
is a mystery about a scientist who dies and how he
dies. It goes into how the world is a world that is
created on a computer and people can go into a world
of the 30s. But the twist is that this simulation is
occurring in a simulation that is already going on.
The only thing that I dont understand is that I
thought the guy got shot and I didnt understand why
he was alive in the future. I guess he just didnt
die. Overall Rating: 6.7

Erin Brockovich

This movie I did not understand how it could be so critically acclaimed. I know it was terrible what happened to those people but the fact that they force you to become attached to these characters and then never build up an suspense as to what the verdict of the trial will be. The movie fails to reach a climax and if you blink you might miss what happened in the trial. Overall Rating: 5.2

The Shawshank Redemption

This movie seems sort of long and you are never really sure how the movie is going to end up, but when it does end it does not disappoint you. This has one of the greatest endings that Ive seen. Tim Robbins amazes you with what he does to escape jail, but he had plenty of time to think about it. It seemed like he had the whole scandal planned out perfect. All the characters in the jail become likable and well know and shows how staying in jail that long can change your life. Overall Rating: 9.5

Arlington Road

I thought that this movie was scary in a way because you could be in a situation like this. What makes this movie so good is the ending. The ending catches you completely by surprise. Jeff Bridges has a neighbor that he fears is a bomber. They do a good job of covering up what the truth about the neighbor is. I thought that this movie had good suspense. Tim Robbins plays the intelectual questionable neighbor perfect. This movie is one that wasn't a blockbuster hit but definitely should have been. Overall Rating: 8.7

Rounders

This movie is Matt Damon's best so far. It shows the complete strategy inside the mind of a rounder. The movie tells of a guy's quest to be the best card player in the world but ends up being a movie about him saving his ass. Playing it safe is the one thing he doesn't do at the end and it ends up paying off for him. By combining his game and worms he becomes the best. Overall Rating: 8.6

Just Cause

This is a great movie that never got a lot of publicity. I saw it in the movies just because it was filmed in a place that I had been to. It turned out to be a great trial movie about a lawyer who decides to come out of retirement to save a black kid from a murder conviction. What is most interesting is what happens after he gets off. This movie is sort of a twist between primal fear and silence of the lambs. A very good movie that just got overlooked. Overall Rating: 8.6

Networth

I thought this was sort of enjoyable. I don't think that all the characters in the movie would make out as good as they did. In the real world I think one have them would have done as good as they did. The good thing about this
movie is all the characters learn about how important friendship are and that is most important, not Net Worth. I am interested in knowing if Thad was still with his wife after not going to his parents. He said he missed her but it didn't show them back together. Overall rating: 5.9

Pulp Fiction

This is a movie about the search and recovery of
Marsellus Wallace's soul. The guest for this soul involves a miracle from God which saves Samuel L. Jackson and John Travolta from being shot. This is an enjoyable movie to
watch with a unique format and many big name stars.
Samuel L. Jackson is the main star and is a bad ass. Making this movie a quest for a soul makes the task more important and the middle changes
how samuel l. jackson
thinks about like and god. This is a movie you need
to watch twice. Overall Rating: 8.9

Bugsy

This movie was a little too long and was not very
interesting to me.
He never really falls totally in love with this girl
and their personalities
sort of clash. Bugsy is a gangster full of dreams and
schemes that he can
never really put together. He builds a casino but
never gets to see it
be a success, it is a part of history, the first in
Las Vegas. He just gets
in over his head and chooses to trust his wife instead
of worrying about his
mobster friends. Overall rating: 4.5

The Devil's Advocate

I think this movie is pretty good. I think that there
are many times when
you have no idea what is going on. Keanu Reeves makes
the right decision
when faced with the devil's temptation and this gave
him a second chance.
The face of Al Pacino on the reporter in the end is
just to show that he
is always there and that even though Keanu made the
right decision he still
hasn't changed. Overall Rating: 7.8

Fargo

I thought that this movie was not all that it was cracked up to be. The accents of the people in North Dakota bothered me very much. It made all the characters seem very dumb even if they weren't. The movie didn't really have a definite good guy or bad guy. Another thing that I thought was rather bad is that they never tell you why the guy needs money and if he only needed 320,000 why did he ask for a million. Overall Rating: 4.8

Boogie Nights

This movie was a very unique idea. The main flaw with the movie is that it is too long. When Marky Mark gets into drugs and music the movie is very stupid. They could have ended the movie before this part or changed it around so it wasn't so boring. Their are many parts that are interesting and funny. It is a very revolutionary movie with great music and a good ending. It is filled with sex but nothing disgusting, it is played through with humor. Overall Rating: 7.6

Scent of a Woman

I thought this movie was a very good movie about how to live your life. Both men, a young college student and an old war veteran meet and there relationship grows into a wonderful friendship. The young man makes the old man feel that he is appreciated while the old man teaches the young man how to grow up and to live with honor. He teaches him the way of the world and to relax and not let the world rule him. Overall Rating: 8.5

Trainspotting

This is probably one of the strangest movies that I have ever seen. It had a few comical parts like the part with the sheets at breakfast but the heroin addiction is very mind blowing. This movie is like the Basketball Diaries has a deep insight into what it would be like to go through a heroin addiction. This movie ends up being a good lesson about drugs. I wouldn't want to do heroin if you thing you were swimming in the toilet. Overall Rating: 4.1

Rain Man

A great movie about how a man finds his autistic brother and learns to love him. I thought this movie was heartwarmind and the only thing about the movie that let me down was that I thought Raymond would stay with Charlie. The movie was very funny and kept you attached. Raymong is the annoying character that you fall in love with. Overall Rating: 8.5

Basketball Diaries

This is a movie about how the city can destroy the life of the youths in it. This story shows how a boy falls farther and farther into an addiction with drugs. This story tells how all of his friends lives fall apart. The ending is good and the boys life is salvaged but it shows how he feels, he is lucky and has matured. The others didn't make it. The misfortunes of the city. Overall Rating: 5.7

Boiler Room

I thought this movie was okay but very slow. I was interested in seeing all these young guys making a lot of money. I was interested to see what was going on at this company. There just was not any suspense to keep you attached to the movie. I was hoping that he would do a little more money taking from the company before it went down. I thought it was a good touch to show how the guy was affected by this company screwing him over. This made you feel bad for what they were doing. Overall rating: 5.3

Instinct

I thought this movie was excellent. Anthony Hopkins played a man who lived
in Africa with Gorillas for two years. Cuba Gooding Jr. is trying to do a
report on him to find if he is competent to stand trial. It goes way above
his report as it goes onto a personal level as Cuba Gooding connects to this
ape man. The connection that Hopkins has made with these animals is
exhilerating
and makes you feel good all over. Overall Rating: 8.5

The Rainmaker

This Matt Damon movie was not a huge hit in the theatres. In fact I don't
remember it being in the theater at all. Matt Damon is a lawyer who is trying
to win a personal injury case. One that is way above his budget. This movie
gets pretty sad when they show the tape of the victim in the courtroom.
Danny Devito is Matt Damon's partner and he is a good addition to the story.
He is a less honest slyside to personal injury lawyers. Overall Rating: 6.3

Phenomenon

I thought this was a very good story that showed that the people of the
world are very closed minded. John Travolta is singled out as a freak because
he is blessed by a light in the sky. This gift could have been from God
or it could have been from Aliens. His powers, though they are used for
good, scares people. This flash will eventually kill him and it will happen
after it causes him to lose all of his friends. This is a sad and amazing
story. Overall Rating: 7.5

Leaving Las Vegas

Nicholas Cage's best performance as an actor. He does a great job of
pertraying
an alcoholic. He loses his job and goes to Las Vegas to kill himself
drinking.
He meets a girl that he loves to be around. She is a hooker and he is an
alcoholic and they accept each other for who they are. I didn't like how
she slept with him right before he died. This movie is all Cage. His
portrayal
of an alcoholic is extraordinary especially his hand shaking when he is
sober. Overall Rating: 7.9

Hanging Up

This is one of the worst movies that I ever saw. Three sisters have a
bad relationship with their senial father. Meg Ryan is the only one that
really takes care of him but he is a drunk and always brings her pain.
The death of Walter Matthau brings the three sisters together. The movie
just is not very interesting. Overall Rating: 3.0

The Talented Mr. Ripley

This is probably one of the worst movies I have ever seen. I personally
did not expect to see Matt Damon playing a gay guy. This movie could
have been suspenseful and had a really good idea but this movie completely
ruined it. The ending of this movie may have been the most terrible part.
Not only is the movie bad but it seems like will never end. Overall Rating: 3.2

Quiz Show

This was a very god movie about a man trying to show a
scandal of the National Broadcasting Company to
deceive the audience of a quiz show. What I didnt
understand was why this was such a big issue. Who
cares I people are getting deceived, television is a
business. People get deceived watching wrestling.
Also this movie shows how the television companies can
get out of almost anything. Overall Rating 7.8

Philadelphia

This movie just proves to me how great an actor Tom Hanks is. He plays
the most demanding roles an actor could ask for and he makes them a success.
In this story he plays a man with AIDS that is gay. This is a very
controversial role at a very controversial time. This movie opens the eyes
of the world to the discrimination against people with AIDS. In this
movie you don't feel too terribly attached to Hanks. You may not feel
sorry for what Hanks has done but you see what he has to go through. Overall Rating: 8.0

A Few Good Men

I thought that the movie is one of the first great trial movies. Tom
Cruise plays the role of a young lawyer that has to defend two young
marines accused of murder. He is chosen for his skills in plea bargaining.
They do this to cover up the truth. This movie was famous for the "You
can't handle the truth," line by Jack Nicholson. Nicholson plays the
perfect marine colonel and Cruise's father would have been proud to see
him take such a man down. Overall Rating: 9.1

The Chamber

I thought this movie was pretty good. It is about a
man who is forced to realize the pain he has brought
to many peoples lives and he comes to live with his
past and accept what is coming to him before he dies.
He finally comes to his piece with the help of his
promising nephew. Overall Rating: 7.1

Dead Man Walking

This is a movie about a man on death row and how it
can effect a person. It makes you see how these
people have made mistakes and that they are not cold
hearted. By the end of the movie you dont want the
convict to die but you know that it has to be done.
It is a very emotional scene because his female
attorney has fallen in love with him. His family has
gone through great turmoil with the idea of losing
their son. Overall Rating: 6.8

The Green Mile

This was an enlightening movie about a special power blessed to a very intimidating man. Tom Hanks plays an excellent role where he has to choose between his job and what he fells is the right thing to do. The decision is made much easier for him. The movie is enlightening and the ending is hard to tell whether its good or bad but it is open to uncountable possibilities. This is one of Tom Hanks best. Overall Rating: 9.5

Boyz in the Hood

This is by far the best movie about living in the ghetto. The story shows how the ghetto can ruin the lives of even the people who are trying to get out of it. This movie is very sad and somewhat violent but it shows life in the hood and how things will never get better when your living in the world of drugs and guns. Overall Rating: 9.3

Good Will Hunting

This movie was the movie about a genius. Will Hunting is a gifted boy that is held down by society because of where he lives. He can make something of himself but where he comes from makes him stubborn and arrogant. It is only after he sees his opportunity to be happy and not reach his potential that the movie ends. He learns this from Robin Williams and not the man who wants him to succeed. Overall Rating: 7.9

Frequency

I was very impressed with this movie. I went into the theater expecting to see a movie about how a guy talks on an old radio and tries to save his dad from dying. When I found that this happened in the first 30 minutes I was very happy. This movie about changing history and stopping
of a serial killer is definitely underrated. The murderer is someone that you would never suspect and that adds to this movie's success. Overall Rating: 7.9

Vanished

I thought this movie was a very good suspese thriller. It is about a girl who disappears at a gas station and a husbands quest to find her. When he does find her it is amazing where her finds her and what this kidnapper
is trying to do to her. I sort of stumbled on this movie not knowing what it was about but I was very impressed. This movie is a good blend of action, suspense, and thrill. It keeps you on the edge of your seat. It gets much better when he finds where his wife is. Overall Rating: 6.4

The Natural

This is a great baseball movie about a legend that
almost never came to be.
Robert Redford
plays a man who is a great baseball player and is
sidelined for many years.
when returns he is older but can still play the game,
and he can play it
well. He faces a near death experience and finds out
about his only son
from the perfect girl. Overall Rating: 9.3

Stir of Echoes

This movie is about a guy that finds someone buried in
his floor from
different
messages that he gets. This movie is a suspenseful
thriller. Kevin Bacon
finds that a girl is killed and buried in his floor
and finds that it is the
neighbors son's that raped and murdered her their.
This movie is an edge
of the seat movie where you are not sure what will
happen. Overall Rating: 7.6

American Beauty

American Beauty was the movie of the year in 1999. What else can you say. It shows the life of a man who wants to rediscover life. He discovers the life that is right in front of him. When he finally discovers how beautiful his life really is he gets killed. This movie involves comedy along with a very interesting and modern plot. Almost every personality type is portrayed in this movie. It is only Spacey who discovers the American Beauty while everyone else lives in a world of confusion. Overall Rating: 9.4

American Psycho

American Psycho is a movie that is so strange that you keep watching it. The whole movie you are seeing how this psychotic businessman becomes a serial killer that is obsessed with his physical self. You watch wondering what is going to happen and what happens almost shoots past you but if you put it together it brings you a great realization. Overall Rating: 7.6

U-571

The movie had the same story almost as the movie Down Periscope. The story of going too deep and coming back up to defeat the enemy. The story had a predictable ending but did a good job of presenting it, they kept your attention without many twists. The movie shows the development of the captain from someone who doesn't sacrifice anyone to a real captain for a country. The boy dying for the crew added to the movie greatly and showed military honor. Overall Rating: 7.7

The Hurricane

The Hurricane was a movie about a man that doesn't seem to except any help because he is black and when he was put in prison blacks were not to get along with whites and they were not to be trusted. It is only when he decides to trust in these people from Canada to help him that he is finally getting over his mistrust of whites and can be released from Prison. Very good story of a young boy who wishes to do his race a favor while trying to find himself. By finding himself he can lead The Hurricane to finding hisself also. Overall Rating 7.3

Pleasantville

I thought this movie was very good. I had to watch it for a class. It is a movie about racism and conformity and how it influences the world. The kids are now the people being segregated. The movie teaches people to be individuals ad experience life for themselves. People today just fall in line with society. People from today show people from back then to enjoy life in a different way then they did. Overall Rating: 7.4

Fallen

I thought this was a great movie that didn't get enough publicity. The thing that I really liked about this movie is how it ended. Denzel does what he needs to do to save his child from Azazel but he does not expect Azazel to move the way that it does. This force is interesting because it is not completely beyond belief. How it was covered up was also interesting. It changes how I feel about the Rolling Stones song "Time is on my side." Overall Rating: 9.1
